Health Assessments

In 1999, the Federal Government initiated a yearly " health care assessment" for all Australians 75 years and over, and aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders who are 55 years and over.

This annual and voluntary health assessment provides the opportunity for you doctor at Brighton Beach Medical Centre to undertake an in-depth assessment of your health. These health assessments include your medical, physical, psychological and social function.

The health assessments provide your doctor with the opportunity to help with any health and living issues you may encounter. It is designed to support preventive measures and improve one’s quality of life.

The issues addressed include:
  • Daily activities and how well one can perform them
  • Nutritional status
  • Risks of falls and injuries
  • Mood and risk of depression
  • Memory
  • Vision
  • Hearing
  • Social interaction and support
  • Health risk, including heart attack, stroke and diabetes
  • Bladder and bowel functions
  • Immunisation
  • Medication

Call Brighton Beach Medical Centre to make an appointment with the practice nurse and your doctor for the health assessment.
